  • EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an evidence-based practice to help individuals heal from trauma using focused bilateral stimulation to process repressed memories. EMDR helps to access the trauma memory network so the details that are processed can be linked with new insight. EMDR has been shown to create learning and eliminate distress by helping individuals gain skills needed for healthy life functioning.

  • Perinatal Mental Health Therapy

Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) Therapy supports parents and caregivers through physical, mental and psychosocial challenges that can accompany pregnancy and the postpartum period. These concerns may arise before birth and remain much longer than the newborn phase. PMH therapy may also support the processing of struggles related to preconception, infertility, miscarriage, surrogacy and adoption. No matter your needs, connecting with a provider trained to understand you is essential. By focusing on individual wellness, CBT or trauma work, feeling well again is possible. Though “postpartum depression” is commonly heard, perinatal mental health also includes anxiety, panic, OCD , bipolar disorder and postpartum psychosis.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a type of treatment used to discover healthier ways of coping with negative thought patterns and create positive beliefs or behaviors. CBT is helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, mood issues, post-traumatic stress and low self-esteem. CBT can be utilized as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other therapy styles or medication. CBT looks at the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

What about medication?

Blue Anchor Behavioral Health does not have the license to prescribe or make recommendations about any psychiatric medications, however, we often collaborate with physicians and psychiatrists who do prescribe medications to our clients. Supporting clients’ thoughts and feelings regarding the medications they take and reflecting on the psychological and physical side effects resulting from medications is often discussed during the therapeutic process. When communicated to your doctor, this can be a helpful way to integrate treatment. Some research indicates that a combination treatment of both therapy and medication may result in a more effective outcome than either treatment alone.
